Biography
When the stakes are high, experience in the courtroom matters. Patrick Grote is a seasoned trial lawyer who represents businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation throughout Kentucky and Ohio. Known for disciplined preparation and persuasive advocacy, Patrick brings the judgment of a former prosecutor and the strategic focus of a civil trial attorney to every case he handles.
Patrick began his legal career in the Kenton County Attorney’s Office and later served for several years as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Kenton County. There, he tried numerous felony cases to juries, securing convictions in serious and contested matters. The experience of managing witnesses, presenting evidence under pressure, and carrying the burden of proof shaped the courtroom presence and strategic clarity that now define his civil practice.
Today, Patrick represents clients in high-stakes civil disputes, including defamation, breach of contract, real estate litigation, probate conflicts, abuse of process claims, and unfair competition matters. In 2025, Patrick secured a $4,000,000 jury verdict in a defamation case in Warren County, Ohio, an outcome that reflects Patrick’s ability to present complex reputational and financial harm claims clearly and convincingly to a jury. He began 2026 with a successful default judgment in a nuisance and abuse of process case, continuing a record of decisive results.
Clients value Patrick not only for trial skill, but for judgment. He approaches each matter with a clear-eyed assessment of risk, pressing aggressively when trial is necessary and resolving disputes efficiently when it serves the client’s broader interests. Patrick is known for being prepared, direct, and personally invested in the people he represents.
A lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky, Patrick earned his B.A. in English from Northern Kentucky University and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law. He lives in Northern Kentucky with his daughter, Allison, and serves on the Board of Directors of Transitions, Inc., a regional addiction recovery organization.
